Default ProjectEQ CVS

The ProjectEQ database is now available via CVS using Sourceforge. It is current as of 2 days ago. I am not sure how updates will work as yet, still working out those details but I hope to keep the db mostly current. In exchange, all I ask is that bugs are reported or additions are made and submitted here: http://projecteq.net/phpBB2/viewforu...a34043b6c9ad2d

THERE WILL BE NO SUPPORT FOR CVS! This is not an official release and really is only meant for database developers, or advanced users.

Server: projecteq.cvs.sourceforge.net
Repo folder: /cvsroot/projecteq
User: anonymous
Module: peq_db

As they have been for some time, current quests can also be had on CVS here:

Server: eqemuquests.cvs.sourceforge.net
Repo folder: /cvsroot/eqemuquests
User: anonymous
Module: peq_quests

Please note due to the size, the db takes a bit of time to download. So, if you seem to be "hanging" let it go for a bit before restarting CVS.

load_system.sql and load_player.sql will load the database for you. Likewise, drop_system.sql and drop_player.sql will drop the db for you.

Hi Cavedude,

Any chance of a brief summary of which zones are "complete" and which ones are "more of less there, some more work required"? I'm very interested to hear how far things have got with PoP zones in particular. Right now my server is running with Angelo's DB, which has some but not all PoP zones populated (Disease, Innovation, Knowledge, Tranquility, Nightmare, Storms, Bastion of Thunder). I think there is interest from my handful of players in places like Valour, Halls of Honour, Crypt of Decay....

It'd be a fair amount of work to switch over and at this stage I'm not sure whether it's wise to do it, so I guess I'm looking for a bit more info on how things are with your CVS version.

Thanks in advance for any advice!

Paul.

None of the zones will ever be "complete", but the ones closest to are everything up to Luclin, PoK is nearly there, and most of LoY (thanks to Angelox) The vast majority of the other zones supported by Titanium are popped, but haven't been touched otherwise. In fact, the only zone not popped off the top of my head is nightmareb.

We have squashed many of the bugs that existed even in old world. We added a ton of quests, and we've tweaked/added many many raid encounters. The largest guild on the PEQ server are all getting keyed for VT as I type this. Much of my database has been merged into PEQ, and there also is a bit of Angelox's work on top of that.

Exactly what I wanted to know - thanks

I'll have a play and see how things look.

Cheers, Paul.

I also would like to add that Cavedude has done the community a great service by making our PEQ world database available for download with frequent updates from the PEQ server. This is exactly what a lot of people have asked for.

With that said, we are hoping now that our database is going to be available via CVS we will finally get other people, such as yourself, to send us changes/fixes/additions via a SQL script and post them on this thread:

http://www.projecteq.net/phpBB2/viewforum.php?f=38

We made this thread some time ago after many people were complaining they felt they were being left out of the contribution process. The PEQ team that maintains the database and quests is a rather small team of committed people, but people who have other things in life to do as well. The real power of providing the database with frequent updates is to allow other people who have the means to contribute, to contribute back.

So please, we encourage and ask for other people to make us of the CVS downloads and the SQL submission thread and help us help you

I have been wondering about submissions but the stuff I have customised on my server (not a great deal to be honest) is aimed at making it easier for our server population - 8 people max with about 4 regulars - to level up and have fun, and is definitely not really "classic" eq. The changes I made include:

* A "random drop" system which allocates point values to all loot according to an algorithm then adds random drops to mobs within relevant level ranges. This was inspired by George's "Diablo style loot" idea. It's run from a php script top modify loot tables and I run it every week so that the random drops rotate.

* A "credit note" system. Mobs have a small chance of dropping a credit note which may then be turned in either for a) an item (like the casino in SH) or b) LDoN points which may then be spent to acquire rare spells or tomes

* A special newbie quest set up in an unused zone (chambersf actually), the reward of which is a gate hammer just like the old EQ overthere hammer but goes to PoK instead

* A custom vendor in PoK selling useful potions (distillates) and other bits and pieces to help new people

So as you can see I haven't been fixing "classic" content per se. Having said that I should probably write up the quests and SQL for this stuff and see if people like it - it just wouldn't be part of "vanilla" EQ, would it?

Paul.

The only submissions PEQ is interested in are for things that make the world database more consistent with Live.

Default Maps

Not looking for support. Just wondering if you are using any of the new map files with the database? e.g. lavastorm, nektulos... So that zone points work correctly. I think you mentioned using them on the project eq website.

The database is setup for new arena, bazaar, and lavastorm, and original Nektulos. The maps (both old and new) can be found under the files section on the main EQEmulator.net page.

Got the PEQ database and quests via WinCVS today. With a few adjustments to the database I'm using a Minilogin and it's working very nicely. I'm now able to switch between the current AX_PEQ database and the current PEQ database.

I'm a big fan of Angelox's work. After playing a bit of both, seems Angelox's database is a bit more current with more items and zone fixes?

PS: Rock on guys, its all appreciated!

Just trying to help:

If using Linux, use these commands to checkout the files...

cvs -d :pserver:anonymous@projecteq.cvs.sourceforge.net:/cvsroot/projecteq checkout peq_db

and

cvs -d :pserver:anonymous@eqemuquests.cvs.sourceforge.net :/cvsroot/eqemuquests checkout peq_quest

(not sure why the forum is adding a space in the middle of the command, between .net and : in the second one.. but remove the space for it to work properly)

Thanks for setting that up Cavedude! It's a huge, huge help!
