i see the new patch supports mysql 5 and i was wondering what are the advantages of upgrading to this over the one used currently.

I just set this up on my server and so far, using MySql 5, the Emu seems to load the DB info faster.

I could not get the precompiled binaries to work for me. I kept getting this error:

Failed to connect to database: Error: #1251: Client does not support authentication protocol requested by server; consider upgrading MySQL client

So I recompiled the server using the MySql 5 include and Lib files and it booted right up for me.

I posted new binaries for mysql 5 in the Development forum and also updated source for use with vs 2003 with an updated server.sln file with the file references taken out that cause compile errors

Ok DONT use the version i compiled Quests dont seem to work in it working on it will post updated files ASAP

so the only benefit is that the DB will load quicker during startup?

It also boots the zones faster thus making the clients zone in faster mysql 5 executes queries much faster then 4 due to 4 being so outdated

Sesmar and i have tinkered ( He did most of the code tinkering ) I found bugs and mysql edits that need to be done... anyway I posted our precompiled 0.7.0-800 for mysql 5 along with the needed database edits in the development section

Also note that these binaries up the max level to 127 for players
